If you're new to cake decorating or just haven't ever piped flowers before, it can seem like a complex and intimidating skill.

FAQ

I'm not just new to buttercream flowers, I'm new to baking! Will I still be able to use this course?

Absolutely, as long as you are willing to practice and learn! I provide you with a recipe for Swiss meringue buttercream in the course, and you can find even more buttercream help in the resources section of the course. As for the cake part, buttercream flowers look great on any type of cake, even box mix!

Does this course include a buttercream recipe?

Yes! I've included my Swiss meringue buttercream recipe, plus an extra lesson on getting the right consistency buttercream for piping flowers. The regular recipe is already available at https://bakingbutterlylove.com/swiss-meringue-buttercream/ if you want to check it out.

What special tools do I need to complete this course?

This course is designed to use only the most basic tools. You will need:

  • petal tip #104
  • round tip #2
  • star tip #16
  • a few couplers
  • a flower nail
  • piping bags
  • parchment paper
  • an electric mixer to make your buttercream

If you already have very similar piping tips, say for example a #3 round tip instead of a #2, they should work just fine.

How long will this course take to complete?

The course videos are short and sweet, but it will take you more time to practice each flower. Most likely you will end up re-watching the videos or reading the written instructions several times as you follow along and practice.

The amount of time spent practicing will vary from person to person. But the great thing about buttercream is you can make it ahead of time, and you can also store buttercream flowers for later use. So you don't have to do everything at one time.

Are there projects to complete?

The course lessons focus on individual flowers, followed by lots of ideas for how to arrange them. I recommend creating a project for each section: basic flowers, layered flowers, and upright flowers. The modules are listed in order of difficulty, so a cake for each section would be a great way to learn!

Does this course include a cake recipe?

This course does not include any cake recipe or cake baking advice. It's laser-focused on buttercream flower techniques!

What type of buttercream do you use to pipe flowers?

I recommend using Swiss or Italian meringue buttercream.

Can I use American buttercream for this course?

The piping techniques demonstrated will all work with American buttercream. However, the lesson on buttercream consistency will not apply, and American buttercream flowers will not have the same look as those pictured in the course.

How long do I have access to the course?

Upon purchase you'll have lifetime access to the course and any updates it may have in the future.

Can't I already find this information online for free?

Maybe! I've spent hours upon hours watching videos, reading through comments in cake decorating groups, and going through my own trial and error to learn how to pipe flowers. This course has everything I've learned condensed into a few simple instructions, so you can learn faster and without extraneous information.

What if I'm not happy with the course?

If you purchase the course but it's not what you thought it would be, no worries. You have 7 days to try it out and if you don't love it, I'll give you a full refund.
